MY PHOTOGRAPHY

I enjoy photo-journalism, portraits, events - and of course the Durham Miners’Gala and Brass festival.  I have for the past 4 years been official Photographer for the Richmond live music event.  I also do volunteer photography for the Butterwick Hospice.

THE  BIGGEST INFLUENCE

My brother was a big influence and I learn a lot from photography magazines

MY FIRST CAMERA

It was a Polaroid but the big breakthrough came with an Olympus OM10

MY FAVOURITE CURRENT KIT

Canon EOS 5D and EOS 40D with various lenses (I may update the 40D for the 7D)

MY FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHERS

Joe Cornish, Patrick Lichfield and Annie Leibovitz.

ME AND THE DPS

I’ve been a member for 15 years with occasional short gaps. My abiding memory is of a presentation I did at the club one night – terrifying!  Also memories of people we don`t see any more - Harry Holder and Maurice Sanderson in particular

THE THINGS I ENJOY MOST BEING A MEMBER OF THE DPS

The varied programme which is very good on most weeks. I also enjoy time with like-minded people and, not so much now due to time pressures, the competitions

AN AMBITION (In photography)

To make more money from photography than it costs me

THE PEARL (Advice to budding photographers)

Enjoy your photography, If others like it that`s a bonus.
