MY PHOTOGRAPHY

My main interests are landscapes and wildlife. In 2009 I had my first solo exhibition which was at the Spennymoor Settlement, Spennymoor. Prints were on sale in aid of the Tudhoe Methodist Chapel Renovation Fund.

THE  BIGGEST INFLUENCE

It was my Grandfather who introduced me to photography at a young age, gave me my first camera and taught me darkroom processing. I have been taking pictures ever since.

MY FIRST CAMERA

A Kodak folding roll film camera. I then moved on to a Voigtlander Vito B 35mm which I bought in Germany in 1957 and still have it.

MY FAVOURITE CURRENT KIT

A Canon Eos 5D Mk 11, with various L series lenses though my favourite lens is a Tamron 28-300 IS – sharp as a pin!

MY FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHERS

David Bailey, Terence Donavon and Ansel Adams

ME AND THE DPS

I joined two years ago and have never looked back. I won the Ted Mansell Award for best print in the DPS Annual Exhibition in Durham Cathedral in 2009. I have had several Highly Commendeds in various competitions and Third place in the George Samuel Trophy.

THE THINGS I ENJOY MOST BEING A MEMBER OF THE DPS

Talking to other people with the same interests, taking part in competitions and the enthusiasm and help I get from fellow members. I also had a great time taking part in the Photography Assignment Group outing to Paddy’s Hole, South Gare.

THE PEARL (Advice to budding photographers)

Enjoy your photography! As for the judges, do what gives you pleasure and don’t give up.
